In a great frame of mind

We have had our frames delivered to the block which was very exciting to see. Unfortunately they seem to also deliver rain with that, which is never good news when building. Not only are we already waiting for the chippies to finish previous projects, but now the rain has delayed them in finishing those projects which will now put us even further behind! With almost hitting the halfway point of the contract, things are not stacking up will for us. HOWEVER, like the title of this post suggests, we are in a great frame of mind in that given it is a small house, it should not take too long to whip up some frames, lay some roof tiles and brick the place up!

The waiting game

Well, we've now been told that the frames will be delivered next week, however the chippies won't be able to start until the week after due to a backlog of work.... this will at least allow the slab to cure for a good 3 weeks before heavy activity hits it. Got to find a positive somewhere ;).

On a lighter note, as you guys can probably notice, I'm starting to make some changed to the blog when I get the chance. I feel bad since I am a web developer and the blog is just a stock standard template. Hard to get motivated to do something I do 10 hours a day already. Anyway, I've whipped up a quick little script at the top of the page basically giving a snapshot of the progress so far. Hovering over it will give you the date and description of the photo and clicking them will enlarge the photo and give you the ability to scroll along, giving an almost flipboard effect. A bit of fun and something different. More functionality to come, and Nats bugging me for a personal look. Thats my next job!

Back soon!

Maze of Pipes

Been quiet for a bit... This is due to a delay in the external plumbing on our block. Was initially booked in for last Friday, then got told that the plumber has been held up on another job that took longer than expected. Emailed beechwood last night to find out when it would be getting done and I get an email at 5:30pm this afternoon saying that all she knew was that it was going to be sometime this week and that she would check with the superviser about its progress.

Luckily Nat had driven past this morning on the way to work to see that the plumber was infact on our block this morning and I went over this afternoon (before I got the email from beechwood) and took some shots and to check out the layout of the pipes.

All in all i'm quite happy with the positions of the downpipes around the house with all but 1 being down both sides of the house, one is on the back wall. I have seen some shockers around where a downpipe is on a front piler infront of the door. I don't know if there is a reason behind that, but I don't see any, which makes me think someone stuffed up there because its not the best of looks.

The nice plumber even smoothed some of out dirt out at the back, which I was wanting to do anyway, so that saved us a few dollars. Still have a fair amount to remove though.

Its Grey Goodness Baby!

Well, right on schedule, 8am we had the concretors pouring the beautiful grey goodness onto our block. By lunch they were smoothing it out and taking the surround boards away and by the time I arrived at 5pm, they were all packed up and we have our solid foundations ready to go for Timber Lovin'! Give it a week or so to cure and hopefully in that time the frames will be delivered and we'll have the house taking shape in no time. Unsure as to when they plan on having the external plumbing completed, hopefully wometime this week if we're lucky!

On target for having our christmas present from beechwood!

Barring up for the grey goodness

We had been originally told that the slab would be poured either Friday or Monday. Given the rain we encounted on Wednesday, whether it had something to do with it or not, its looking like Monday will be Grey Day for all the right reasons. The Rio was delivered on the Thursday and it was laid on the friday all ready and prepped for the goodness to wrap it all up. Can't wait to be able to walk on that puppy! Hoping it will only be sitting a week, 2 max, then framing will start. This all depends now on the banks actions. Fingers crossed they move quickly!
