Tiling the way

We haven't been very active in the last few weeks for a number of reasons. Firstly, nothing much has happened. The Skirting has since gone on and some minour things have been delivered. The brick cleaning has been done, but apart from that, Its been quiet. Secondly, since we've been locked out and most things are now happening on the inside, we can't see somethings being done, the bathrooms for example.

All that changed today. We were going out just to look through the windows to see if any real progress had happened, and found a ute parked outside with the front door wide open. I couldn't jump out of the car quick enough to get in to look around since its almost been 4 weeks since we were last inside. The tiler was there. He had started this morning and had already done the shower recess', blocked up the bath and started putting down the flooring in the main bathroom. He was a nice guy, had a bit of a chat, he told us that he expects to be finished by the end of the week, so keen eyes will be watching throughout the week on his progress.

Supervisor is still betting his life that we'll have keys by the end of November. I really do hope he's right. With Tradies like the titler today, it will put up a fighting chance for it to happen.

No More Gaps

Just a quick post as we were given a plesent surprise this weekend when we rocked up to see the garage doors had been put on this morning. Not completely finished so to speak as it does need to have the section above the garage door added, but it is all hooked up and ready for power! Love it!

All the trimmings

A highly anticipated week at the house with all the trimmings going on. After mid week with the front door and the garage internal door going on, we now have down pipes fitted, all internal doors on with architraves surrounding them, the cornice on and the waterproofing done ready for council inspection. After talking to the supervisor, he feels that if everything runs smoothly and happens when its meant to, we should have a new address by the end of November which is a dream come true for the year that was. Doing everything possible to make this happen. Reminding the supervisor of items forgotten or pending, staying on top of proceedings and just general checks every couple of days so we're prepared for any upcoming phone calls about things. Should be an intence next few weeks!

If you like it, you gotta put a door on it...

Now, i'm the last person to be a fan of a Beyonce song, but Nat just sang it too well for me not to use it. It was sung with excitement, as the title does suggest, 2 doors in fact have been put on. With only now a front door handle officially away from saying that our house is 'locked up' (even though the big thick board across the door is doing a bang up job for the night), we're seeing quite alot of action going on inside. The kitchen as last post has, all the internal doors and frames are in their respective rooms ready to be fitted tomorrow and a work bench with plenty of saw dust! End of November here we come!

The Great Fit Out

Had an end of the week scramble from the builder this week. Friday saw the kitchen fitted, the wet areas are awaiting the water proofing to be done before the cabinets/vanities can be fitted. The internal doors and skirting boards were delivered ready to be started on monday. If the momentum continues, our goal to be moved in for christmas is fast becoming a reality. Everything going to plan should see us with keys in our hands in late november.

With this in mind, we have been frantically doing the ring around for quotes for landscaping and ducted air con. Ideally we're wanting both these to be completed just before or on handover. The chances of it happening, at least for the landscaping, isn't bad, the air con being done is more of a battle, but I will continue to push. We've had some interesting figures thrown around, but the majority of them are in the same ball park. getting on it early is proving to be an advantage due to the fact that we meet quite a few people, all with different ideas which gives us the ability to take all of the good ones, using the best guy for the job for the best price. Win Win!

Everything's here... even the kitchen sink!

From a late night visit after a long day at work I was hoping for a great deal of progress to be done after the first 2 days of the short week to make up for the missed day. We got a constellation prize in that our kitchen cupboards and bathroom vanities we're delievered. As minor as this was compared to what we expected, it was still rather exciting to actually see something going into this shell that we'll call our home soon. Now looking forward to actually seeing it all installed!

Gyprocking The Suburbs

We're in high gear now. Gyprock hit our walls thursday and friday with our cornicing delivered and ready for installation next week. Also have been told that the kitchen will be installed next week and hopefully lockup either next week or the week after. We're now looking at the end of November as our move in date, but many have said it could be earlier. Would love it to be but wont get our hopes up. November is very realistic in the current position so we'll stick to that.
